Pujya Sri Swamiji in Jujjuru - 11 Feb 2008

Jujjuru is a tiny village in the western part of Krishna District. This place was famous for the Devi, Vishnu and Shiva Temples on the hillock and Vedic heritage. Many Veda scholars from Madduri Clan completed their Vedic studies and Shrouta Yajnas such as Poundarika, Vajapeya, Agnishtoma etc. were performed over many generations. An erudite scholar from this family Sri Madduri Venkateswara Yaji is associated with Swamiji for the past two decades offering services in many major rituals conducted by Sri Swamiji. Conferred as Datta Peetham Asthana Vidwan, Madduri Yaajulu (as he is popularly known); constructed a temple complex comprising the shrines of Dattatreya, Santana Venu Gopala Swamy and Gnana Saraswati at the site of Yaga Shala. As a sanctimonious association with Sri Swamiji, Sadgurudeva graciously accepted his plea by donating Datta idol, Golden Shikaram and rupees two lakhs for Mukha Mandapam and consented to include Jujjuru Pratishtha in His schedule.

On Magha Suddha Panchami day, Monday, Sri Swamiji arrived amidst tumultuous welcome by hundreds of devotees, jostling for space to witness the ceremony. Prior to the arrival of Sri Swamiji, there was an air of anxiety, uncertainty and acrimony due to the unprecedented cyclonic depression. The entire region was drenched by down pour for the past 2-3 days. However the glow of hope in devotees for weather improvement was sustained by incessant prayers through Sri Swamiji. Unity chosen period for Pratishtha and Kumbhabhishekam, the rain completely subsided as if demonstrating the power of prayers and subsequent grace of the almighty. People were astounded to gaze at the sky which looked like a gigantic umbrella protecting the fifteen kilometer radius area from drizzle. Pujya Swamiji performed Yantra Pratishtha and Sri Chakra Puja before braving the almost vertical ramp erected to reach the Kumbhabhishekam platform atop the temple. It seemed to the devotees that Sri Swamiji would never have used this steep ramp to perform Kumbhabhishekam but for high regard and affection towards Madduri Yaajulu. In His Kumbhabhishekam message, Sri Swamiji spoke as follows. ÒThis sacred ground, Yagna Bhoomi has become an abode of Sadguru Dattatreya. Hence, we shall worship Swami as Yagna Dattatreya. It is unnecessary to mention that all those devotees who supported this unique and historical temple are amply blessed with Guru Krupa. May devoted disciples and public serve this temple to get rid of Daiva Dosham and since perpetrated towards parents and elders. Jaya Guru Datta.Ó
